Earth Science Regents Part D - Performance Test
The June 2008 administration of the Regents Exams was the first time the new, 3-station, Earth Science Performance Test (Part D) was given. ALL students taking the Earth Science Regents exam are required to take Part-D even if they have previously taken the old, 6-station, Part D performance test. Old part D scores are no longer valid for the new exam. Every student must take or retake  PART D each time they take the Earth Science Regents. Previously, Part D scores could be used on subsequent exams. That is no longer the case. Students need to take the performance test every time they take this exam.

The Earth Science Regents Part D is scheduled by individual schools and campuses. It is normally administered 3 - 10 days prior to the start of the Written Regents Exams.

Regents Prep

When preparing for any exam, it is more effective to study frequently for shorter periods of time, than trying to study for the entire exam the night before. Spend 30-60 minutes each day for several weeks preparing for Regents.

Get a good nights sleep before the exam- you need a rested mind and body to answer questions effectively and being well rested before the test will help you to eliminate careless errors.

Have a good breakfast (or lunch) on the day of the test.
Have something to drink (water or juice) before the test and consider bringing a plastic bottle of water with you to the test.

Have several pens and pencils available and a calculator if you need one. Replace the batteries before the exam.

Arrive at least 15 minutes ahead of schedule to give yourself enough time to get situated comfortably without the need to rush.

During the exam-
Don't second guess yourself. If you see a careless error, correct it, but avoid the temptation to change answers you are not completely sure of. Your first impression is usually your best.

Breathe deeply- you brain needs that oxygen and breathing may help alleviate some anxiety.

If you are unsure of an answer, circle the question number on your answer sheet so you do not record the answer to another question on the wrong line. Come back to those questions when you have answered the questions you are sure of.

Do not leave any questions blank. There is no possibilty of a blank being correct-put something down, even if it is a guess!
